How to Meditate (setting the scene)

Hi, Budding meditators!

Here is a video I thought you may find useful on setting the scene for meditation practice.

The video's key points include

  • Find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed.

  • Find the most comfortable position for yourself lying down or sitting up.

  • Think about the senses sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste.

  • Do you wish the eyes covered or closed over.

  • What smell will you use to tell the mind it is time to meditate.

  • Do you feel you wish to hold something in your hand for focus.

  • What will be the sounds in the room, silence, a guided meditation or simply a piece of relaxing music.

The senses are a good place to start your meditation practice journey and its really good to experiment with what sense you can connect to most, the one that helps you to refocus when the mind has delved back into thoughts again.

Obviously one thing I do not mention in the video is breath.

Another way to help refocus the mind is to come back to the breath.

But.....there will be more on that later!

Here is the link again for the meditation a[[ balance.

See you all soon
